Saturday, 3-Sept. City Pass. Bundles. Packages. Bulk. Volume discount. Whatever you call it, the principle is the same. Buy a set of stuff for a fixed price that would be cheaper than the total of individual items.
The only way a city pass (or museum/tourist) works economically is to do a lot.
One way to ruin a holiday (what the Euros call vacation) is to do a lot.
We scheduled a tour of the markets this morning. However, I decided we needed the rest more; plus, I know the best one is the Boqueria Mercado, so we can go on our own.
See, the main reason I wanted to have full energy is this.
Our mascot, Mabel the nurse duck, is in front of the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia, (Basilica of the Sacred Family). It has been under construction for over 140 years. The architect was Antoni GaudÃ, a devout Catholic with a visionary approach. An approach that emulates living things—as in, few right angles and lots of organic shapes.
If there is only one thing to see in this city, it is Sagrada Familia. Whatever your ethnicity or spiritual affiliation—and I saw a whole range—it is a religious experience
I thought of two audio tracks to accompany my video. The first was this. The second was this. I didn’t want spend my day editing video, so just keep either of those in your head while watching.
Afterward, we took a walk down the main boulevard of Las Ramblas and the rest of the Gothic Quarter.
Yes, this is a street in the Gothic Quarter. Not an alley, a street. With a name and shops, eateries, and hotels.
For instance, here’s a shop that sells nothing but rubber duckies. We had to pull out Mabel and show the owner.
I don’t think I’ve seen this at IHOP or Denny’s.
I’ve heard of stadium sponsorships. But on a church?
Speaking of churches, here is a church wall. Those craters and deformations? Reminders of Franco’s execution squads during the Spanish Civil War.
